Annual Spring meeting in the Puget Sound area, followed by a chapter group outing to watch the Mariners host the Padres at Safeco Field.  All three local area teams -- the Seattle Mariners, Tacoma Rainiers, and UW Huskies -- are at home.  A full weekend of baseball awaits you:

• 5/21 - 5:00pm    Book event featuring NWSABR members Mark Armour and Steve Steinberg at Elliott Bay Book Company, Capitol Hill neighborhood, Seattle
• 5/22 - 12:00pm  NWSABR Chapter meeting at Douglass-Truth Branch of Seattle Public Library, Central District neighborhood, Seattle.   Our featured speaker is Dr. Pierce Scranton, orthopedic surgeon, author and former team physician of the Seattle Seahawks.  Dr. Scranton will speak for about 15-20 minutes and leave plenty of time for questions on sports injuries and anything else on your minds.  The meeting will also feature debut presentations from members Stan Opdyke and Mickey Gallagher, as well as veteran Steve Steinberg.  Stan will discuss the intersection of the baseball careers of Connie Mack and Vin Scully,  Mickey will introduce us to the baseball poetry of Tom Clark, and  Steve will reprise a presentation made at the Nine conference on Grover Cleveland Alexander.   We should also have time for the usual kvetching (ref: urbandictonary.com) about the Mariners, along with some chapter business and pre-convention news.
