A big thanks to Steve Smith for filling in for me on Sunday. It sounds like a good time in Burlington, as the weather cooled off, the Bees beat Cedar Rapids 3-2, and the chapter had a good meeting. Steve's report follows.

A total of 13 enthusiastic people showed up.

The Hall of Fame suite was very nice and Whitney Henderson, the group sales rep., was a very gracious host.  She is the daughter of a former Burlington Bee who played at Burlington with Paul Molitor in 1977.  (ed. note: I assume this is Mike Henderson, who shows up on the '77 roster? See  GM Chuck Brockett gave us a nice presentation on the Bees and Community Field and the operation of a minor league franchise in general.  The group had a number of questions.   Chuck did say that Burlington's playing field was as good as any in the Midwest League.  He also said that Burlington is the smallest town in a full season league and they do remarkably well at that.  He was quite an interesting speaker and gave us a few more tidbits.

We also got to throw nerf baseball's to the crowd from the suite windows in the bottom of the fifth.

R J talked on the White Sox and Steve Smith gave a presentation on Emlen Tunnell.(Note: Steve's article will be posted to the chapter web site).

R J Lesch was the winner of the trivia contest with Steve Bennett a close second.

We'll shoot to have our next meeting in early October, hopefully in Norway, IA. It sounds like we may be able to line up Hal Trosky's sons to speak. Would October 10 work as at tentative date?
